TM Computers LLC ("TM Computers," "we," "us," or "our") is a computer repair shop located at 40 E 1300 South #2, Salt Lake City, UT 84115. We are committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our shop, use our services, access our website at tmcomputers.net, or interact with our repair management system at tickets.tmcomputers.net.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 — Information You Provide Directly

When you bring a device in for repair or create a service ticket, we may collect:

  • Full name
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Mailing address
  • Device information (make, model, serial number, password/PIN if provided for repair purposes)
  • Description of the issue or damage
  • Payment information (processed securely via Stripe — we do not store full card numbers)

1.2 — Information Collected Automatically

When you visit our websites or use our online ticketing system, we may collect:

  • IP address and browser type
  • Pages visited and time spent on our site
  • Device type and operating system
  • Referring URLs

1.3 — Communications

When you communicate with us, we collect:

  • SMS messages sent to or received from our business number (+1-866-937-1699)
  • Email correspondence to or from support@tmcomputers.net
  • Records of communications logged in our repair management system

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your repair ticket and service history
  • Communicate with you about the status of your repair via SMS or email
  • Process payments for services rendered
  • Send service notifications, receipts, and follow-up messages
  • Maintain records of devices left in our care
  • Improve our services and customer experience
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Protect against fraud, theft, or misuse

3. Text Message (SMS) Communications

TM Computers sends SMS text message notifications only to customers who have explicitly opted in by checking the SMS consent checkbox on our paper check-in form at the time of device drop-off. Consent is not required as a condition of receiving repair services.

  • Repair status updates (check-in, diagnosis, ready for pickup)
  • Payment confirmations and invoice notifications
  • Service reminders and follow-up messages

Message frequency: Approximately 2–5 messages per repair ticket.

To opt out, reply STOP to any message. For help, reply HELP or call 801-347-6000.

We use Twilio to deliver SMS messages. Your phone number is transmitted to Twilio for delivery purposes only and is not sold or shared for marketing.

4. Customer Devices & Data

4.1 — Devices in Our Care

When you leave a device with us for repair, we may need to access data on the device solely to diagnose and complete the repair. We will not access, copy, or transmit personal files, photos, documents, or communications beyond what is necessary to perform the requested service.

4.2 — Data Backup

⚠ Important: We strongly recommend that you back up all data on your device before bringing it in for service. TM Computers is not responsible for data loss that occurs during the repair process. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions for our full data liability policy.

4.3 — Data Breach Notification

In the unlikely event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law, including Utah's Consumer Privacy Act (UCPA) and any other applicable state or federal regulations.

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service Providers: Twilio (SMS delivery), Stripe (payment processing), and IONOS (web hosting). These providers have their own privacy policies and security measures.
  • Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or government authority.
  • Business Protection: To protect the rights, property, or safety of TM Computers, our customers, or others.
  • Business Transfer: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

6. Data Retention

  • Repair records and customer information: Minimum 3 years
  • Payment records: 7 years for tax and accounting purposes
  • SMS and email communications: 2 years
  • Unclaimed devices: Subject to our 20-day abandoned device policy per our Terms and Conditions

7. Security of Your Information

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards including:

  • Password-protected access to our repair management system
  • SSL/TLS encryption on our websites and ticketing system
  • Secure payment processing via Stripe (PCI-DSS compliant)
  • Physical security measures at our shop location
  • Errors & Omissions and Data Breach insurance coverage
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.

8. Your Rights — Utah Consumer Privacy Act (UCPA)

As a Utah resident, you have the following rights under the UCPA (effective December 31, 2023):

  • Right to Know: Request what personal data we have collected about you.
  • Right to Delete: Request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal exceptions.
  • Right to Correct: Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
  • Right to Opt Out: Opt out of any marketing communications at any time.
  • Right to Data Portability: Request a copy of your personal data in a portable format.

9. Children's Privacy
